Sometimes, your friends or family insist you to join a Facebook group that ends up being a headache yet; you cannot leave the group due to certain reasons. Well, you still have the option to archive the group, or in any case, if you can delete the group, you may do it well.
You can do it both ways as you like so let us get started!
Archive a Facebook group
You won’t be able to perform actions for the group if you’ve archived it. Activities like creating a post, posting a comment, adding new members, etc, are not possible until or unless you unarchive the group.
You can archive a group either from the browser or from the mobile application installed in any device.
The steps to archive a group using the Desktop version are:
Go to the Facebook web browser and open the group that you want to archive.
Tap on the three-dotted menu button on the top of the group window, and select the ‘Archive’ option.
A confirmation pop-up window will appear. Click on the ‘Confirm’ button to continue.
You can unarchive your group anytime you like by following the same steps and clicking on the ‘Unarchive Group’ option.
The steps to archive a group using the iPhone or Android application are:
Open the Facebook application on your phone and go to the group that you want to archive.
On the top-right corner of the screen, a ‘Tools’ icon is available. Click on the same.
The next window will appear with a menu of options, select the ‘Group Settings’ from the same.
Next, locate the ‘Archive’ button and tap on it to archive your group.
Enter a reason to archive the group as the next window asks, tap on an appropriate option and click on the ‘Continue’ button.
A confirmation pop-up window will appear. Click on the ‘Confirm’ button to continue.
You can unarchive the group anytime following the same manner.
Delete a Facebook group
Deleting a Facebook group is not as easy as to archive a group. To delete a Facebook group, you require to remove the members from the same and then permanently delete the group.
Only an admin of the group can take action on deleting a group. In any case, the admin himself/herself is no longer a part of the group, then any other admin can carry out the activity.
The steps to delete a Facebook group using the Desktop version are:
Go to the Facebook web browser and open the group that you want to delete.
Click on the ‘Members’ option to view the participants in the group. A list of members will appear.
Click on the three-dotted icon next to the name of each member of the group, and select the ‘Remove Member’ option from the drop-down menu.
A confirmation window will appear. Click on the ‘Confirm’ option to continue.
Once you remove all the participants of the group, click on the three-dotted menu button on the top of the window and select the ‘Leave Group’ option.
A ‘Leave and Delete this group’ pop-up window will appear. Click on the ‘Leave group’ option.
The steps to delete a group using the iPhone or Android application are:
Open the Facebook application on your phone and go to the group that you want to delete.

From the menu that appears in the next window, select the ‘Members’ option. A list of participants will appear.
Select the member name and click on the ‘Remove from Group’ option.
A confirmation window will appear. Click on the ‘Confirm’ option to continue.
Once you’re done removing all the members of the group, click on the ‘Tools’ icon, and select the ‘Leave Group’ option under the ‘Admin’s Tools’ tab.
A ‘Leave and Delete this group’ pop-up window will appear. Click on the ‘Leave group’ option.
